A Hunger To Help

The Vine Inn is one of your local hotels that has come on board the “Parma for a Farma” fundraising initiative to help those on the land struggling through drought conditions.

The Vine Inn Barossa Community Hotle’s assistant manager, Gabrielle Marschall said the Nuriootpa based venue will donate $1 from every schnitzel sold during the entire month of August which, based on last month’s sales could raise more than $1600 for the cause.  “In July we did over 1600 schnitzels of all types, so as part to this we are not just doing the Parmas for the farmers, we are doing all schnitzels. We are hoping to raise over $1500 with a big target of $2000.”

Specially marked donation tins will also be placed at various locations around the hotel for those who wish to contribute more. All money raised will support the national Buy A Bale campaign wherever $20 raised buys a bale of hay to feed livestock on drought affected farms or contribute towards other needs such as purchasing water, groceries or diesel to transport hay.

Gabrielle said there was huge community demand for the Vine Inn to get behind the fundraising initiative. “I guess being in a farming community, it’s something that affects all of us, and it if people aren’t being directly affected, they know someone who is” said Gabrielle. “We can’t go out and physically get the trucks and bales, so by working with the Buy a Bale campaign, this is the best way we can help and know that all the money raised will actually assist the farmers in need.
